WEEK 1

 

So it’s week 1 and we are starting our 4 week journey with essentials . Since we are just starting , we will do a total of 3.5 - 4 hours of work just on our speed for the whole week , excluding your own training sessions and gym sessions .

This week is developing the technique , so we have all the drills to help you do so .

There are drills that you might not be familiar with . Click on the drill to see the demonstration :

A-Skips

The A Skip is a basic drill to teach an athlete the basic mechanisms of sprinting . This drill teaches you to learn and drive your arms and legs together in the same range of motion .

B-Skips

The B Skip is another one of the set of 3 fundamental drills to teach you to sprint with the correct form . This drill involves the A skip in addition to throwing your driving leg in front , landing on your toes , and going again . 

 

C-Skips

The C Skip adds to the above two drills and involves more of the hip flexors which are a essential element of generating the sprint power . 

Speed Bounds

A drill which is a sprint originally , just involving longer strides , teaching you to use force effectively , by generating longer strides and covering more distance .

Once we are through this week , we would already have a better sprint time than we previously had . Then we will cover all other bases in the subsequent weeks !
